Filmmaker Julia Reichert is a lifelong labor educator and feminist, as well as being a member of UALE. Her latest film American Factory, with Steve Bognar, tells the story of the workers in an American factory that was bought and re-purposed by a Chinese company. It won the Academy Award for "Directing: US Documentary," as well as the Directors Guild of America Award. (It is available on Netflix). She has also been the recipient of several Academy Award nominations, the International Documentar Association's Career Achevenment Award, and other honors. Her film career began with the release of Growing up Female in 1971 and continues to this day.
