Sue Schurman and Kent Wong win UALE Achievement Awards

Both Schurman and Wong have been tireless supporters of UALE and its predecessor organization UCLEA (the University and Colege Labor Education Association). Kent Wong was the first president of UALE, and Sue Schurman served in the same capacity in UCLEA.

The vote for Best Book came out a tie this year, so we have two winners: Michael Honey, for Going Down Jericho Road, and Steven Ashby and C.J. Hawking for Staley: The Fight for a new American Labor Movement.

The Labor Studies Journal Editorial Board picks the winner of the Best LSJ Article award. This year, their choice was "The Crisis of Social Democratic Unionism: The Opening up of Civil Society and the Prospects for Union Renewal in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany", by Martin Upchurch, Graham Taylor and Andy Mathers, “ (December 2009).

The New Generation Award went to Clare Hammonds, for her paper entitled "Family Child-Care Providers and the Creation of a Colective Identity.
